Taking Cipro For Bladder Burning, Cloudy Urine. No Fever, Vomiting. Next Step?

Next step if 10 days of Cipro don't relleive symptoms of bladder burning pain (on skin) and my urine is cloudy. No fever, vomiting, etc. and temp normal. But pain -- like leaning againt a hot pot in area to right of mons pubis below abdomen not relieved by antibiotic of any of my cancer pain meds (gabapentin, oxycontin)so I think bladder thing has nothinh to do with the cancer. Miserable feeling -- meed to strap eice to my waist and wear likedropped waist to get the pain slowed down. Thanks.

Hi and welcome to HCM. Thank you for your query.
It can be cipro resistant infection and you need to do antibiogram and urine analysis to verify the appropriate antibiotic. Also you need more detailed urologic exam: kidney ultrasounds and endoscopic tests if necessary. Also, there can be pelvic infection especiailly if you are female so you should consider this too.Wish you good health.

General & Family Physician Dr. Shoaib Khan's  Response
Hello and welcome to HCM.

Thank you for your query.

From the description provided, it appears to be a case of ineffective antibiotic treatment.

This could only mean that the specific antibiotic is ineffective in your specific case. I would thus recommend a urine culture and sensitivity examination, which would help by providing a list of antibiotics which are effective in treating your infection, and from this this information your doctor would choose the most suitable antibiotic; which will surely show an improvement within 24-48 hours of initiation of treatment, and completely rid you of the infection within 5-7 days of treatment.

In the meantime, please consume plenty of water, in order to avoid dehydration. Also, I would like to get an ultrasound conducted of the region, just to be on the safer side.

I hope I have succeeded in providing the information you were looking for. Please feel free to write back to me for any further clarifications at: http://doctor.healthcaremagic.com/doctors/dr-shoaib-khan/64581 . I would gladly help you.

Best wishes.
