Hi,
I understand your concern. If
metformin is stopped abruptly after continuous use there is a rebound increase in sugar levels.
So I suggest that you start it again with half the initial dose and use it for 2 weeks and then have sugars tested.
Supplements like nutrilite are not needed and not advocated as mostly they contain sugars that increase the blood sugar. A balanced diet is much better option than these.
I advice that you ask your wife to eat small meals that are high in fibre, like whole wheat bread, vegetable sandwiches and if you eat meat add a small portion of grilled or baked meats for protein requirement. Boiled vegetables with dressings are an excellent option for breakfast rather than ready made cereals as again they have sugar added in them.
She can have fruits like pomegranates, watermelon, and all citrus fruits like oranges.
Daily exercise is a must and walking or jogging and
yoga are very helpful.
Try these and her sugars will come down. Do not worry she will be fine.
Thanks for the query hope you find it useful.
Have a good day.
