Taken Hydroxyzine And Prednisone For Chronic Hives. Can Allergy Shots Help?

I suffer from chronic hives....come and go on a whim. Been taking 10mg of predisone...only when I have a flare up...now almost 2x a week. Been prescribed Hydroxyzine....doesn't work...even taking up to 50 mg a night. Going to Allergist on 12.5.13, do you think allergy shots maybe the answer? I know it is not stress, but I have been allergy tested and I have always tested high, especially in the plant/tree areas and some food. I am 42 yr old female, exercise, weigh 125 and am 5'5. The dermatologist referred me to an allergist, which I see next week. I have been suffering since age 19. I am just scared of the long term effects of predisone, even in the dose I take. Thank you, Kimberly
