Swollen Tonsil And Lymph Nodes, Ear Pain. Painful To Swallow. Had Strep Throat. What Do I Have?

Hello. I have a swollen right tonsil , swollen lymph nodes, and an earache on my right side. It s very painful when I swallow , but other than that, there are no other symptoms. My throat doesn t hurt, I don t have a fever , and i m not achey. I had strep throat eight weeks ago and I was in much more pain than i m in right now. I thought it might be tonsil stones, but when I tried to take the stones out, nothing came out. I first started getting sick about a week ago, except both of my tonsils were red and swollen at that time. Now only the right tonsil is still swollen and painful. I don t know what I could possibly have and if I should see a doctor.

Hello and welcome to HCM,

I have understood your problem and i shall try to help you out

You seem to be having an episode of tonsillitis with lymph node enlargement and you need to do these:
1. Take a strong antibiotic like amoxycillin-clavulanate if not already taken for five days in consultatation with your doctor.
2. Take only warm fluid and do not take anything cold
3. Do not take oily or spicy food
4. take salt water gargle at least three times in a day.
5. take an anti reflux medication like pantprazole in consulation with your doctor

One tonsil may always be bigger and they may not be of equal size at least to the naked eye so you do not have anything to worry about.

if you do not get better then you must consult an ENT

take care and get welll soon
