Swollen Lumps On Foot, Occur On The Heels, Subside On Their Own, Itchiness. Causes?

Hi. I have reoccuring swollen golf ball like lumps that appear on one foot and then go down wihin 4 - 6 hours. These lumps have just recently started happening and come and go every few days or so, mostly on the heel of one foot and have been appearing on one foot one day and then the other on other days, in no particular order. These lumps are a litle painful, a little itchy, but do subside on their own. Do know what could be causing this? Thank you

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Thanks for posting on HCM
According to your description, even though atypical presentation of occurrence it is probable that you are having gouty attacks. To confirm this you will need to get checked up by a doctor who will ask to do some lab test specifically serum uric acid and other blood tests.
Other possible causes maybe allergic reaction (cause needs to be determined), autoimmune disorder, infection etc.
If gout is confirmed then appropriate antigout medications can be prescribed associated to pain killers.
If other cause, then treatment will depend on the actual cause.

Hope this helps
