Swollen Ganglion's On Neck, Mild Rash On Throat, Cough. Treatment?

hello, i was wondering if you may give me some indications. I have some swollen ganglions on the left side of my neck, only, One, about the middle one, is bigger, the other they barely can be touched. Is there a worry reason. I have some mild rash in the throat. I had some cold, about a week ago, which went off untreated, with bad cough in the night.

Hi,

Thank you for your query.

1. There are about 300 lymph nodes normally present in the head and neck region. these react to any infection or inflammation in the are a that they drain. this causes them to enlarge. they usually do not regress to their original size thereafter and hence can be felt.

2. These lymph nodes are probably related to your sore throat. If they are still tender, you must get your throat examined and start medication. If they are non tender, sub-centimeter sized lymph nodes may be left alone.

3. If you do want to investigate, get a routine blood test, a throat swab, a neck ultrasound (USG) with doppler and a USG guided FNAC (Fine Needle Aspiration Cytology) done. If all these tests are within normal limits. there is no cause for worry.

Regards.
