Swollen Foot Preceded By 3 Days Of Diarrhea, Vomiting & Fever Which Subsided By Imodium And Pepto?
Just finished a 2-3 day bout with diarrhea, vomiting and slight fever took Imodium for D and Pepto for nausea, feeling much better, fever gone but today right foot is so swollen/tender cab barely walk......do have a history of gout, came off a large dose of indomethacin for swollen wrist several days before.. THANKS !
The presentation is suggestive of either, a typical attack of acute gout, which characteristically affect the foot; or, acute inflammation of the foot joint.
You need to take Colchicine till the pain/swelling subsides; thereafter, you should ideally be on regular uric-acid-lowering drug.
Consult your doctor and apprise him of my opinion. I am certain that he will agree with me, order required tests, and- based on the reports- will prescribe suitable/modified treatment as advised.
If you find my response helpful and informative, do not forget an “excellent” (5-star rating) to my answer, to ENCOURAGE ALL doctors- engaged in social service- to render sound advice to the FREE queries.
