Swelling After An Injury, Bump Formed, Discomfort, Painful. What Is The Reason?

My 3 year old bumped hi chin on a wooden stair and had a huge bump. We iced it and swelling decreased. It has been one week since the incident and now he has a hard bump on both legs where he hit the stairs.
I am concerned about these bumps and will take him into our doc.
Any idea of what this may be and if we need to have him seen immediately.
He does not appear to be in any discomfort but says that it hurts if I press the bump/swelling.

Hello,
Thanks for writing in.
It looks like a soft tissue injury to his knees.
What you did was correct but please take note if the bump is turning dark blue or brown.
In children, such injuries heal spontaneously.
Still if you have any doubts, please take him to a doctor.
Very rarely it can be a result of bleeding below the skin and hematoma formation.
Hope this helps.
