Swallowed Sea Bass Bone, Cough And Cold. Is It Related To Bone Stuck In The Throat?
Hi. Last Monday night I swollowed quite a big sea bass bone when eating seabass in salt on holiday. Wednesday morning I woke up with a swollen and sore uvula (the dangly thing at the back of my throat) this then progressed to quite a bad cough and cold, my nose is permantly blocked even after blowing, I just wandered if this was related and if i had a fish bone stuck in my throat as it is nearly a week later and my symptoms persist. Also I obviously flew home so maybe the areoplane made the cold worse. But it feels like there is something in my throat, it may be phlem and my throat maybe sore due to coughing I suppose.

With little information and as per the history you have given and the clinical findings you may be suffering with infection in throat and associated rhinitis but I would suggest you to get the XRay neck lateral view to rule out Foreign body in throat. Presently you can start broad spectrum antibiotic and nasal decogestant for one week.
But still I would suggest you to consult the Specialist if you don’t get relief as on examination the findings may be different and line of treatment may have to be changed. Please don’t hesitate to consult and ask for any more query. i will be pleased to answer.
