1) Would you prefer surgical approach to medication approach to treat hypertrophy prostrate? 2) How long does xatral takes to cut off hypertrophy prostrate.

Thanks for writing in.
The treatment that is used depends on the severity of the problem. The usual approach is that we use drugs known as alpha blockers ( eg: tamsulosin) to relieve the symptoms. If the patient becomes better and the kidneys remain unaffected, then this therapy is continued. Otherwise , a surgical approach would be taken.
Xatral contains alfuzosin and will not reduce the hypertrophy of the prostate. It will only reduce your symptoms.
