I have a UTI. but the doctor at the hospital also mentioned that I may have cervicitis. I am aware that the main cause is an STD, such as chlamydia. is there any way that the uti may have caused inflammation of the cervix?? I have had a yeast infection before. when I was given a papsmere, the doctor said that I had a lot of fluid near the cervix. I am very confused. please help

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Cervicitis can be treated by treating the cause of infection. The cause of infection can be UTI or Sexually transmitted infections, (STI).

Get physically examined by a gynae, get Urinalysis (C/S & R/E) done, get UTI treated at the earliest, you will need antibiotics. Take care of your hygiene & avoid public washrooms.

Get all tests for STI done, your treating doctor will give you antibiotics & antivirals. Get your sexual partner also examined & treated.

In the meantime avoid sex for a couple of days, avoid multiple partners & stay well hydrated & away from unprotected sex.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Nupur K, General & Family Physician
