Suggest Ways To Deal With Fluctuation On BP After Changing Medicines

My doctors at the VA recently changed my BP med from Azor 5/40 and HCTZ, which was working quite well. My BPs were in the range of 118-120/70. I have been on amylodipine besylate 10 mg, losartan 50 mg and HCTZ 25 mg since 11/17 and now my bps are running 141/100. I think it would be sensible to return to my Azor; however the VA does not do formulary. I just checked it and it was 150/106. Do I need to go to the ER or should I just wait until the morning and resume my Azor, hctz dosage?

Hi welcome to HCM.
I understand your query and concern.
Fluctuations in blood pressure should me monitored regularly to avoid complications like stroke in the brain and heart.Uncontrolled blood pressure could be related to inadequate drug dosage or non compliance of your Anti hypertensive drug intake.Best treatment for elevated blood pressure is through drugs like beta blockers and Ace inhibitors. Before that adequate management and work up is needed.I advise you to have a baseline 2 dimensional echocardiography,ECG and lipid profile as a part of routine screening of your heart.Restrict the intake of salt to less than 6 g/day.Regular physical exercise in the form of brisk walk for 20 min a day for 5 days a week is pretty useful.Reduce the intake of fatty and fried food. One pomegranate a day will help . Stress management is most vital in your case..So Consult a Cardiologist and Endocrinologist for further expert management.
Post your further queries if any.
Thank you
