Suggest Ways To Avoid Diabetes While Being Overweight

I m a 55 year old African American woman, maybe 10 lbs overweight. I learned today I am on the cusp of being pre diabetic. Certainly want to avoid that. what are the best things that I can do, other than losing weight, to avoid getting diabetes. Thanks. June Reynolds

You are should follow these to avoid diabetes.
1. Strict dieting advised by dietician.
2. Do regular aerobic exercise like running, cycling, swimming etc.
3. Avoid excessive sugar in diet.
4. Drink plenty of fluids orally. Take more of high fiber diet like pulses, vegetables and fruits.
5. Avoid oily and fatty foods.
6. Avoid sedentary lifestyle (prevent prolonged sitting in one position).
7. Avoid stress and tension, be relax and calm.
Don't worry, if you follow all these, your weight will reduce and you won't develop diabetes in future.
