Suggest Treatment To Remove Precancerous Cells From Ovaries

I had a cyst removed from my ovary which led to them finding some pre cancerous cells so they wanted to remove my appendix and one ovary... Doing that they seemed to be happy but said I will need to have a checkup every 6 months for the next 3 years then I will be free.. What does this mean and should I be worried that I will get cancer or am prone to it...?

Hello,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
Cancer basically means some normal cells of body have gone into uncontrolled growth and do not comply with other normal cell physiology.
Any cancer when detected has a tendency to spread to other places by means of blood, lymphatics or direct spread.
For now they have operated on you to remove the main cancerous lesion or the origin. But we do not know whether it has spread to some other part of your body or not.
For this exact reason they have asked you to follow up every 6months to do regular check up to find out whether it has spread to any other part or not.
Once you complete 3 years and they are sure there is no spread that occurred it is almost sure that cancerous cells are totally removed from your body.
Hence the follow ups.
I hope I answered your question satisfactorily. If you have any more query kindly write back to me, will be happy to help you out.
Thank you.
