Suggest Treatment To Get Rid Of Dark Lips

Hi, I have a problem with dark lips. The corner of my lips and upper lip are quite dark since I was about 7 seven years old. This is because at that age, I used to lick my lips a lot and not apply lip balm. Now I am 24 years old and still have these dark lips. I want to apply some lightening cream. Will it work?

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have dark lips which is due to hyper pigmentation . The treatment of lip pigmentation depending upon the right choice of medical treatment according to your skin. I would suggest you to :-

- Apply lip balm containing broad spectrum sunscreen with SPF 30 to protect your lips from further darkening due to UV rays of sun.

- Apply kojic acid cream twice a day which is mushroom extract and very effective for skin pigmentation and safe for long term use .

- Apply topical retinoids like teritenoin for good results at night .

If condition persist after 1 month then consult dermatologist for proper examination and treatment . Doctor may recommend you procedure like microdermabrassion and chemical peeling .
