Suggest Treatment Liquid Drainage From A Cut On Shin
Hi I cut my shin on Friday which was steri stripped I have changed the dressing. When the plaster came off yesterday do did the stern strips I a placed another plaster over the would. However tonight I took the plaster off and watery liquid came out of the plaster. The would is still leaking . what should I do ? Julie
Hi. As per your case history you are having wound site infection. My treatment advice is - 1. Don't apply soap or any antiseptic lotion like Dettol on it. 2. Clean the wound with water and betadine solution twice daily. 3. Apply a mild antibiotic cream like fusiderm cream twice daily on it. 4. Take a NSAID like ibuprofen for pain and swelling for 5-7 days. 5. Other treatment options are oral antibiotics like levofloxacin, cefadroxil and azithromycin taken only after consulting a dermatologist.
