Suggest Treatment For Vitiligo

Hello Doctor..my daughter has a vitiligo problem for the past 2 yrs..she was on Omnacortil for almost a year. Later she was given Medrol and topgraf cream and occasionally given Dicaris..but there is no change in the colour of spots..she has spots on her fingers and feet. Do I need to start with Elocon and Dicaris ???

Hello and welcome to healthcaremagic

Although topgraf (tacrolimus) is a good drug by itself but some areas like fingers and toes are resistant to treatment OR slow to respond. Although you did'nt mention the duration since you have been using tacrolimus, but it is advisable to give a fair trial for 2-3 months before giving a consideration to substitute.

Elocon would also be a good option to try, and should be given a fair trial of 2-3 months as well.

If medical therapies fail, you always have the option for surgical modalities like punch grafting, autologus melanocyte culture and transplantation, suction blister grafting, permanent tattoo etc

regards
