Hello and welcome to HCM,
Glaucoma is a chronic progressive ocular disorder characterized by high intra-ocular pressure.
High intra-ocular pressure can lead to irreversible loss of vision.
Besides reduction of intra-ocular pressure with pressure lowering drugs, surgical intervention may be required.
High intra-ocular pressure damages the retina and ptic nerve thus leading to permanent loss of vision.
So, at your stage pressure lowering drugs may not be sufficient and surgical intervention may be required.

Thanks and take care
