You had a chronic viral throat infection and recovered fully but still the irritation in throat is persisting and this is resulting in dry coughs. In most of individuals such irritation occurs due to minor trauma to pharynx or throat due to coughing. Irritation results in coughing which again irritates the throat and thus a vicious cycle of irritation-cough-irritation is formed. Salbutamol is a bronchodilator and in my opinion the drug will not result in much benefit in your symptoms. Instead of Salbutamol medicines like Cetrizine, Chlorpheniramine etc can be used. The medicines will help in decongestion. For proper treatment steam inhalation and warm saline gargles 3-4 times in a day are must. This will help in quick recovery.
