General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello welcome to HCM, thanks for asking a query

I can understand your concern. Vertin is Betahistine and the drug is an antihistaminic drug. The drug is used commonly for relief of symptoms of vertigo but the drug is not a definitive treatment of the condition. In most of individuals the drug is prescribed for short durations of time only. You were on 24 mg dose and then doses were reduced to 16 mg and now you are taking the drug regularly since last 7 months. In my opinion there is no use to take the drug and the drug should be discontinued, though to say with confirmation I need proper evaluation.

Ask your doctor for dose reduction and discontinue the drug. You can use the drug on SOS basis for vertigo symptoms. Visit an ENT doctor for evaluation of the symptoms and to rule out any cause.

Thanks, Take care.
