Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am post menopausal I had a scan which showed the lining of my womb measured 9 mm and there was some small cystic spaces within my endometrium. I had my pre admission examination which included blood tests hear5t trace etc on 8/7/16 and currently awaiting an appointment to have a biopsy as they could not get enough cells using the pipelle way. I never used HRT. I also have some small fibroids. My smear tests have always been fine and kept up to date. I am quite worried

General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi,
Fibroids present before menopause do disappear in few years after menopause. Small sized fibroids are therefore kept under observation. But fibroids detected after menopause, especially with a cystic space need to be investigated by a biopsy. Please don't worry even if something is found abnormal, they may advise hysterectomy at the most.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Vasudha Jayant Athavale, General & Family Physician
