General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello.

I can understand your concern.

Cephalosporins are relatively safe antibiotics in pregnancy. Also if you have an infection it is important that it is controlled.

The antibiotic prescribed to you has good action against the organisms which commonly cause urinary tract infection. However, the dosage is 500mg twice a day, duration is usually 5-7 days. However, sometimes the dosage is lesser for certain medical conditions. I suggest you contact your family doctor and confirm the dosage he has advised for you.

Hope this helps. Wishing you a happy pregnancy.

Regards,
Dr Geeta
