Suggest Treatment For Toothache After Extracting Teeth

This past Tuesday I had to have #2 tooth removed which was attached to a permanent bridge. Along with tooth #2 - tooth #3 was a pontic tooth on bridge, so the dentist cut my bridge in front of tooth #3. Never having this done before my teeth on upper right side have been constantly aching and are sensitive. Is this from the vibrations i experienced when he cut bridge? I was told that I was not a good candidate for implant to replace the two teeth - I'm 67. I'm at a lost as to what steps to take next as I feel toothless without those two teeth.

Hi..
Can understand your concern..

As per your complain the sensitivity and pain sensation can be very much due to the vibrations and heat caused during cutting of the bridge but it does not cause pain in all teeth and can commonly in the tooth which is the other tooth involved in the bridge..

The other thing is that when the teeth are prepared the inner layer known as dentine is exposed as the enamel layer is removed while preparing tooth to place the bridge..

In this case when the bridge is removed the tooth comes in contact with all the hot and cold food materials and cause sensitivity..

You can also elicit pain on the side on which tooth is extracted caused due to extraction and the pain can radiate on the entire side.

If implant is not indicated for you and you have lost the tooth on which the bridge is placed you can have two options:

One is you can go for another bridge with taking the support of the next tooth (#1) as the support or abutment tooth and #2,#3 can act as pontics and #4 as other support tooth, for a better retention and support #5 can also act as abutment tooth as well as #1 on left side can also act as support if the gum and bone health of support tooth is appropriate to act as support.

Other option is that if fixed artificial teeth or bridge is not possible you can go for removable partial denture as no other option is left out of implant and bridge cant be done..

Hope your query is solved..

Thanks and regards..
