Suggest Treatment For Toe Injury

I believe I broke my toe/toes on my left foot 5 days ago. That day my foot hurt and was bruised but only a little around baby toe. Since then the bruising has covered 25% of my foot up to my big toe and it still hurts but not as bad as on the 1st day or two. I have iced it and elevated it as much as I can. Is there anything else I should be doing to help heal it and is the spreading bruise a normal occurrence?

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement 's  Response
Hello,
Thanks for your query.
It might be soft tissue injury or fracture.
Without X-ray, it is difficult to differentiate a fracture from others.
I suggest you to consult an orthopaedician nearby for a detailed examination. You may get the X-ray of the area affected under his/her guidance.
Beside icing and elevating it, you can take anti-inflammatory drug like motrin to reduce pain and inflammation. Avoid putting weight and rest well.

I do hope that you have found something helpful and I will be glad to answer any further query.
Take care
