Suggest Treatment For Toe Fracture

20 days after 5th metatarsal break at the base and wearing a pneumatic aircast boot, excess bone has built up on top of my previously broken little toe. The side of the foot beneath the toe is bruised and it s about 1-1/2 in. long. Should I continue wearing the boot, or ask my doctor for an alternative, perhaps a brace? Is the excess bone permanent? The toe is becoming quite large and I m concerned about wearing a shoe again. I m supposed to wear the boot for 10 more days, although the foot feels like it is nearly healed. Thanks.

Hi
The excess bone get removed by process known as remodelling, you do not need to worry about it.You should continue with air cast .This fracture usually heals in 4-6 weeks time.
You may take diet rich in calcium and vitamin D.
Hope this helps.
