Suggest Treatment For Tightness, Bloating And Discomfort In Upper Abdomen

Hi. My stepmom is having tightness and discomfort in her upper abdomen and it is very bloated asnd hard. She is also having severe sharp muscle pains in her upper arms. She cannot lift a can of soda even. Should I take her to the emergency room or is there something I can do for her at home?

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

The bloating in the abdomen may not be related to the pain in her arms.

Bloating can be due to: (1) constipation
(2)GERD
(3)lactose intolerance
(4)food intolerance
(5)celiac disease
(6)use of gas producing foods

The use of reflux medications may help with bloating and a change in diet may be helpful.

The use of pain medications may help with the pain in her arms but if it is unresponsive , it may be best to go to the hospital or her doctor for assessment.

I hope this helps
