Suggest Treatment For Throat Pain

Hi! Last night my 16 year old daughter swallowed a big chunk of a hot dog without chewing it well. Now today, she has been complaining about her throat hurting especially in a particular spot. Do you think it was caused from the prior evening? If so, what can I do to ease her discomfort? How many days does it take to heal?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

The pain can be due to trauma and inflammation following rash swallowing. Let her have warm water gargle with a pinch of salt, twice or three times a day. Have Tab Disprin dissolved in warm water after food. Twice a day. If no relief in 24 hours. She needs examination and needful antibiotic as per advise of her doctor.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Vasudha Jayant Athavale, General & Family Physician
