Suggest Treatment For Throat Discomfort After Treated Strep Infection

I've been having throat problems lately (doctor diagnosed as a viral infection) and on Monday, i was able to touch my epiglottis in the back of my throat. Today, i looked at my throat with a flashlight and was able to see the tip of my epiglottis. i have read many mixed answers on this topic, and I'm not sure if I should be overly concerned or not. I am 15 years old, 5'9'', and 146 pounds. I had strep throat about a month ago, but it has been gone for about three weeks. So, is this a serious condition?

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query your son have symptoms of throat discomfort after treated strep infection which is due to poor immunity of body and i seems to be due to bacterial infection. I would suggest you to do warm saline gargles. Visit ENT specialist once if symptoms keeps on persisting and get blood tests and throat swab done and start treatment after proper diagnosis. Avoid intake of cold liquids or spicy food. Drink glass of warm water with one spoon honey and half tea spoon of turmeric powder. and take steam inhalation as well. You should take antibiotic Ciprofloxacin and antihistamine Levocetirizine for 3-4 days.

Hope your concern has been resolved.
