Suggest Treatment For Tear On Torus Palatinus

Hello, I have a tear on my torus palatinus since swallowing a pill about 3 months ago. I just looked in the mirror at the roof of my mouth and noticed a tear and now I see this is why I have been having problems swallowing. What do I need to do to rectify this issue? I went to my primary physician with the swallowing issue 3 months ago and she said she didn't see anything but probably didn't look at roof of my mouth.

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your question in detail and can very well understand your concern..

As per your complain tear on torus palatinus which is a bony overgrowth can occur due to eating of some hard food stuff and as it is bony hard the mucosa over it gets injured leading to pain and inflammation..

The treatment for torus palatinus is the surgical removal of the excess overgrown bone by an Oral Surgeon as it can not reduce in size by any medication..

As of now you can apply Lignocaine gel over the broken mucosa to relieve pain..
Painkiller like Ibuprofen (Motrin or Advil) can be take to relieve pain..
Avoid hot, spicy and hard foods to prevent further irritation..
Sucking ice pops and drinking cold water will provide relief..

Hope this information helps and thanks for writing to Healthcare Magic..
