Suggest Treatment For Swollen Veins

I was ill the other a couple of weeks ago, generally ill with flu like symptoms. A week before I felt like this my hip went on me one morning where I had to limp to walk, it was fine following day. Then I felt ill and the back of my neck was painful to move. I also suffer with my back where it feels like something is rubbing together in my lowere left or right hand side. Today I am suffering with swollen veins with like throbbing pains on my hands, fingers, arms and occasionally legs and feet, also shoulder. My palms are actually quite blue, as though my skin is translucent and my veins are popping through. A repply would be much appreciated as it has been going on a couple of years now on and off. I am female, work as an administrator and am 40. Thanks.

It is unlikely to develop varicose veins of the upper extremities and hands. However, given some of your other symptoms, it is possible you have a rheumatological issue, whereby your hands and feet can turn blue when it is cold out. I would check with your pcp to see if you would benefit from a rheumatological work-up. Try to keep your hands and feet warm in the meantime.
