Suggest Treatment For Swollen Tonsils?

Hi all I ve had a swollen left tonsil for less than a week atleast that s when I noticed it. It scared me I went to dentist had an oral cancer exam done she said all looks good but my left tonsil did look a lil swollen. She said I should go see an ent well with the holidays and everything I m unable to see an ent for a couple weeks. There is no pain no white spots it looks like it may be a little more red than my right tonsil. Just kinda feels like I got something caught in the back of my throat. I ve gargles warm salt water and a few times I gargled hydrogen peroxide/warm salt water. Every morning I wake up hoping the feeling goes away but it s there, if I didn t scare myself by looking tho up on the internet is probably not really notice it. I haven t felt sick really. Kinda scared thinking it might be tonsil cancer.

HI,
Welcome to the healthcare magic.
I had gone through your question. I can understand your concern.
You would have have mentioned your age, habits like smoking, tobacco usage which are risk factors for cancer. The unilateral reddish tonsilar swelling could a peritonsillar abscess. With that much short duration, its highly unlikely to be cancer.
I recommend the following.
1) A course of antibiotics.
2) Analgesics like tablet paracetamol for pain.
3) Salt water gargling. Add a pinch of salt to a glass of warm water.
4) Clinical examination by an ENT doctor/ You can take an image of the swelling and write a detailed history send me on healthcare magic for more help.

Hope I have answered your question.

Wish you a good health.
