Suggest Treatment For Swollen Lymph Nodes

I have a sharp pain in my upper neck and feels like my tonsils. It is a sharp pain, a bit like a needle being put in.
I have also had a bad taste come into my mouth. The feeling in increased when I swallow or press on my neck in the area. However, sometimes the pain a hard to handle and other times i can notice it and nothing is bad.

It seems like a swollen lymph gland bit it can be painful when touching and swallowing.

Why idea of what this is?

Hi,

As per your complain a sharp pain in upper neck with swollen glands and bad taste in mouth along with painful swallowing seems to be most probably due to severe throat infection that can be caused due to bacterial or viral throat infection leading to Pharyngitis and Tonsillitis. For confirmation consult an Otolaryngologist or an ENT expert and get evaluated.

He can do investigations like Throat swab culture can help in diagnosis. You can be advised:

- Antibiotics like Augmentin OR Azithromycin to resolve the infection.

- Anti-inflammatory painkillers like Ibuprofen can be taken to relive pain.

- Doing warm saline gargles, steam inhalation and using a humidifier in your room can be very much relieving.

- You can also suck throat lozenges to soothe the throat.

- Gargle with numbing mouthwash containing Lignocaine.

- Gargle with antiseptic solution like few drops of Betadine in water.

- Chew Vitamin C pellets to boost up the immunity.

- Avoid spicy and chilled foods.

Hope this information helps. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Thanks and regards,
