Suggest Treatment For Swollen Knee After A Hit

I hit my knee on a corner and it instantly swelled the size of a baseball. It hurts to move and the pain is really weird. It s Black and blue and the bruising keeps getting worst. When I style to stand it feels airy and very painful. It s been 12hrs since injury and it s still double the size it should be. I hate hospitalshit and would like to not go if I don t have to. Thank you -Cori

General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

It is possible that it is only a soft tissue injury.

You can consider monitoring for 24 to 48 hours for any changes. If the pain becomes very bad during that time, you should be sen earlier.

Treatment would involve the use of a cold compress to the area, rest, a bandage to help reduce the pain and swelling.
Elevation would also help with the swelling.

Anti inflammatory pain medication would also be helpful eg naproxen, cataflam, ibuprofen

I hope this helps
