Suggest Treatment For Swollen Foliate Papillae And Ear Pain

Hello I have had swollen foliate papillae on the right side of my tongue for about a month now. It seems to be a bit red with no pain but it hasn't gotten smaller also there is a small red indent Infront of the swelling. My tonsil in my throat is a little bigger on that side too. Also I have had slight ear pain on both sides usually on the right though, but that comes and goes and lasts no longer than a few minutes if that. Just wondering if I should be concerned or if this is normal and I'm over thinking it.

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain inflamed foliate papillae on the side of tongue can be due to causes like continuous irritation caused by any sharp edges of teeth while can also be due to nutritional deficiency, tongue biting habit etc..

In case if there is inflammation of the tonsil on the same side then it can also be due to chronic throat infection..
Ear pain can be due to ear infection while can be due to radiating pain from throat..

I would suggest you to consult an Otolaryngologist and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like throat swab culture can help in diagnosis and treatment can be done accordingly..

As of now you can do warm saline gargles, do antiseptic mouthwash gargles and suck throat lozenges..
Take Vitamin B complex supplements..

Hope this helps..

Regards.
