Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I got hit by a car and my left legs calf muscle is incredibly swollen. There is no break. What is the best course of action. I m 21 years old and uninsured so I can t really see a doctor. Should I just wrap it up ice and and keep off it for a few days?
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have swollen calf muscle . Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like xerotic eczema , senile pruritis , atopic dermatitis , contact dermatitis or infestations . The symptoms can also occur due to varicose veina and DVT , consult cardiologist for it . I would suggest you to apply cold compresses to rashes , keep it clean and dry , apply petroleum jelly on it and take antihistamine like benadryl . If condition doesn't get well then consult dermatologist for proper examination . Doctor may order certain test like skin patch test or allergy test . Doctor may prescribe immunosuppressants or corticosteroid ointment . Keep your leg in hot water tub with epsom salt for 15 minutes .
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Get Well Soon.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
