Suggest Treatment For Swollen And Painful Testicles

I had problems with the epididymitis from chylamydia with my right testicle, it hurt and was swollen, I m on doxycycline for 10 days and today was my second day. I got the pain on Sunday and took a shot as well with my prescription on Monday. Today is Wednesday. How long until the epididymitis goes away? And will the ant-biotics cure it all? Thank you so much! - John.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I understand your concern.
Chlamydia infection of epididymis presents with pain, swelling and inflammation of the epididymis that lasts about 6 weeks or less.
Doxycycline 100 mg is recommended to be taken orally twice a day for 10 days, which you are on. For pain, you can take Tablet.Ibuprofen 400mg twice daily after food for 10 days along with it.
Kindly give scrotal support during this period of about 6 weeks till the infection completely subsides. Avoid sexual activity till the symptoms completely subsides.
You also need to be tested for other STDs, including HIV.
Hope the information provided would be helpful.
Wish you speedy recovery.
