Suggest Treatment For Swollen And Painful Salivary Glands

Hello!
My son(12 years) has the salivay glands swelling and red gums from two days.Today the swelling is disapeard somehow but his gums are still red and some small wounds are spreaded in his tongue and lips.He had no temperature and no pain, only could not eat.Should I be worried or this is just a flu?I am washing his mouth with Listerine and using Dologel. Thank you!(I am not using a credit card right now)

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns....

As per your complain it seems that there is infection in the salivary gland leading to inflammation and swelling and the ulcers over tongue and lips are also secondary to infection..
I would suggest you to consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated and he can do a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like MRI of Salivary Gland and saliva culture leading to confirmation of cause and treatment can be planned accordingly..
As of now you can make him gargle with a numbing mouthwash to relieve pain in the ulcers.
Taking Acetaminophen can help..
You can do cool compresses over the salivary glands..
Take a soft diet and plenty of fluids..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
