Suggest Treatment For Swollen And Painful Pimple Under The Eye

Hi. about two months ago i i popped a pimple under my eye and it swoll upp very big. today the size has decreased but it can still be swollen when you touch it. when you look at it its like it is coagulated blood under my eye and under the eyeskin. I really dont know what to do because it wont dissappear and i am so irritated about it. Ithought it was a scar, and so i told my doctor (he was kinda unaware avout the situation and nor specialized in such things) he thought so too. i was not happy with the answer. now i am concerned if it is a scar or not and i am getting thoughts of lazering it away because of the time. would be very glad if i got a good answer

Hello. Thank you for writing to us

I suggest a likely possibility of an acne nodule/ cyst. The fact that it is red and painful suggests that it has inflammation.
I advice you against squeezing it as this may push it deeper.
If I was the treating doctor I would have suggested you a course of an Oral antibiotic.
My choice of an oral antibiotic for an inflammatory acne nodule would be either Azithromycin Or Minocycline.
Oral antibiotics would help in resolving an inflammatory acne lesion faster. They may be stopped once the lesion resolves i.e usually within 2 weeks and if there are no more inflammatory acne.
Topically you may use an antiacne topical antibacterial e.g either benzoyl peroxide 2.5% gel or clindamycin 1% gel, twice daily.
Oral and topical antiacne medications are prescription products therefore I suggest that you visit a dermatologist for a confirmatory diagnosis as well as for the needful.

Regards
