Suggest Treatment For Swollen And Painful Leg

Thank you . My husband age 80 and on hospice has been having some swelling in his right leg from the knee through the foot. Today it also seemed warm to the touch. He has a history of congestive heart failure but nrver had swelling on onl one leg before. Please help. YYYY@YYYY

Hello,
Thank you for asking at HCM,
I understand your concern. It is unusual to get swelling only on one leg so is important that your husband be seen by a doctor to check for celullitis which is a skin infection and needs antibiotics. Also the doctor might need to ask an ECHO dopler of the legs to check the veins if they are functioning well or blocked (deep vein thrombosis). These are the 2 main things to rule out
