Suggest Treatment For Swollen And Painful Knee

Hi I was playing soccer today and I had braces on and all of a sudden my knee popped out of place and right back in. It hurt so bad and now I m beginning to notice swelling and I can t put much weight on it. I would say it s an ACL tear but I already tore my ACL a few years ago and after intense rehab for almost a year the leg came back to 100%. So can you help explain to me what s wrong? Thanks

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Pain and swelling after trauma can be due to either a soft tissue injury like ligament or tendon tear, or due to bony fracture. You require an MRI for detailed evaluation. It is urgent and do it on priority basis.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Loveleen Sharma, General & Family Physician
