My son hit his ear on the counter pretty hard. It bruised immediately and has swollen quite a bit. He screamed his head off when he first hit it, but now seems fine. He just keeps touching it, but doesn t seem to hurt. He s only 22 months old so I can t ask him. Is there something I can give him to help with the swelling?
Hello, welcome to healthcare magic I your son will be fine soon. Bruise means discolouration due to blood collection which will eventually go on 14 days approx. One thing that you should consult that whether there is any blood collection below skin over pinna. If yes it should be drained or evacuated as soon as possible. Otherwise it can compromise in blood supply of pinna cartilage and lead to it's deformation. If no collection, you can relax. Wishing for his rapid and complete recovery
