Suggest Treatment For Swollen And Painful Collar Bone

The center of my collar bone next to my throat hurts REALLY bad to touch and is swollen. It hurts to lift my left shoulder or turn my head. It started a few days ago and now nothing I take or use relieves the pain. What do you think is causing this. Thanks in advance for your response. Catherine

Hello,

The center of your collar bone next to your throat hurts, it is swollen and it hurts when you lift your left shoulder or turn your head. You can take NSAIDS, Combiflam or Naproxen, one SOS when pain and discomfort. Placing ice packs on the affected area can help to reduce pain and soreness. Avoid activities that will put even minor strain on your shoulder.

You are suggested to get clinically examined by an Orthopedics. Get X-ray, CT, Bone scans, blood workouts and other routine examination done to detect the pathology causing you symptoms. The cause of such symptoms may be fractured collar bone, sleeping position, nerve impingement, OA, acromioclavicular (AC) joint separation, tumor, cancer, etc. You will be treated according to the pathology detected and severity of the symptoms. Stay away from addictions if any.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
