Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I m an 81 year old male who has begun accidentally biting my lower lip while eating during dinner, hard enough to draw blood. I quickly stop the bleeding, but my lower lio remains somewhat swollen, and often within a few days or a week it has happened again. Then after a few weeks or a month respite from this biting of my lower lip, I do it again. I ve never experienced this lip-biting behavior during a dinner before. Any possible explanation of why this is happening? Thanks.
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of swelling on the lower lips due to frequent biting which is leading to formation of purulent exudate and leading to angioedema.
Need not to worry. I would suggest you to
- Drink plenty of water to maintain hydration.
- Avoid exposure to sunlight as it will exaggerate your symptoms.
-Take folic acid with vitamin b complex supplement.
If symptoms keeps on persisting visit dermatologist once and get it examined. Start treatment after proper diagnosis. You should go for allergy testing as well.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
