Suggest Treatment For Swelling On Face And Fluid In Ears
Hi. I ve had a bad head cold and my ear was filled with fluid. I became almost well quickly but then my upper and lower molers on one side of my face began to hurt - I can tell it was not the teeth but the gums. Anyway, this morning I woke up with the entire side very swollen. I went to my dentist and he took x-rays. Something suspicious MAYbe but nothing really. He prescribed 3 drugs which I do not want to take. I think my cheek is filled with fluid. What can I do?
You have a history of having fluid in the ears and pain. You are suggested to get clinically examined by an ENT, it is indicative of acute otitis media with fluid and infection. You need a course of antibiotics (Augmentin) and analgesics (Tylenol) for relief. You also have facial swelling and pain due to infection in the teeth (upper and lower molars); since you have got clinically examined by a dentist take the prescribed medicines to get relieve.
You can rinse your mouth and gargle 3-4 times a day with salt and warm water or neem oil diluted in water. Take liquid food or semi solid food like oats, porridge or khichri in small amounts multiple times a day.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
