Suggest Treatment For Swelling In The Nose And Upper Lip

Good afternoon, I started to experience a swollen red nose the other day, last night my upper lip became very swollen as well and my energy has dropped. I slept in till 2pm today , 14 hours of sleep and still feeling not rested with sore nose/nasal and my upper lip is very noticeable and swollen .. I have taken benedryl and not sure if that will help or if I should got to see my doctor? I did go do some hiking 3 weeks ago and pulled off numerous ticks..

Hi Dear ,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern.

As per your query you have symptoms of swelling in nose and upper lip which are mainly due to allergic reaction to insect bites( such as ticks). Dental infection is also one of the cause for these symptoms but in your case it seems more to be allergic reaction.

I would suggest you to take antihistamine tablets as it will subside the allergy and your symptoms will be resolved immediately. Benedryl would not be of any use. If pain is severe enough that i would not let you sleep you should visit general practitioner as soon as possible. Till then take ibuprofen or Tylenol to prevent pain. Drink alot water. Apply ice cold pack in that swollen area it will subside swelling.
