Suggest Treatment For Swelling In Knee After An Injury

I fell in softball practice the other day, I was positioning my leg to slide position when I crashed onto the floor on that knee, sideways. It didn t pop loud enough fo people besides myself to hear it, but when I was getting up, from my knee to my toes was locked in the sideway position, and I had to pop it back into position. Now, 3 days later, the swelling is still signifcant after many ices and soaks, bruising is evidemt and I can t bend it fully or straighten it without great pain. I cant bend it more than 15°.. And when I walk without the knee brace, it pops with every step.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi!
The first and the best thing you can do is to contact your orthopedist and do a MRI to find out any possible damage in your knee bones or ligaments. For the joint swelling and pain you can take nonsteroids anti inflammatory drugs like Ibuprofen, nimesulide, diclofenac, etc. Put ice on it and take rest in bed.
All the best for you!
