Suggest Treatment For Swelling And Peeled Skin From Hot Water Burn

My wife suffered from hot water burn last saturday. She immediately applied cool water for 5 mins followed by applying aleo vera and then toothpaste. Next day she applied cold water again followed by burnol ointment. She applied the ointment with aleovera 2-3 times a day. Now the swollen is reduced and upper layer skin is peeling. But surrounded area is dark whereas the peeled skin area is red. It is paining a bit on touching. Will the burn mark go ? How many days to heal it? Is burnol the correct ointment? If not pls advice what needs to be done

Dermatologist 's  Response
Hello,

Welcome to healthcare magic.

She could apply a cream containing silver sulphadiazene with chlorhexidine 3 times a day after washing and drying the area.

The redness and pain will subside in 3- 5 days.

If there is persistence of pain/ spreading redness/ pus discharge/ increase in swelling, please consult a doctor to rule of infection.

Hope this helps you.

Take care.
