Suggest Treatment For Stomach Pain For An 8-year-old

Hello, my 8 years old daughter had a severe stomach pains above her belly button on Friday, she developed a fever of 103.8. We took her to the ER, they did UTI test and strep test both was negative and send her home saying it was just virus. But since Saturday morning her fever is gone the pain went down very little. But it stays the same till now, she has been laying down since Friday. She say it hurts more when she stands or walk. She also tried to take few bites yesterday but say it makes it worse and she feels full. She has been drinking plenty of fluids. Yes she had bowel movements yesterday. Today she said it was watery twice. We are thinking about taking her back in ER tonight. Any idea of what it could maybe be? I felt the dr did not really do a throughout test on her Friday they just determined it was virus.

Hello

Thank you for posting at HCM.

I am not sure why doc thought about UTI when the pain was above belly button.

As the child complaints fullness of stomach, and is having problems while eating, and watery diarrhoea with pain, this points to more probably diagnosis of food poisoning or foreign body ingestion.

you need to do a stool examination, an USG Abdo with CT Scan and endoscopy to confirm diagnosis. If its foreign body it can be either pushed through gastic lavage or broken down through Endoscopy probe and then pushed out depending on size. If its food poisoning then accordingly we can have antibiotics. To relieve pain give child Tab Buscopan BD , AND Tab PCM250mg 1-1-1 x 3 days for symptomatic relief.

Hope to have helped you.
