Suggest Treatment For Stiffness In Knee Post Surgery
Had a complete patella tendon ruputure. Torn it in the middle of the tendon. Had surgery. Doctor said it was a very serious knee injury. Had to keep leg in a brace and straight for six weeks. started PT at week six post-op. Had 3 degrees range of motion. I am now 13 weeks post-op and 7 weeks into PT going 3x a week and only at 67degrees. Knee is still very stiff. May have to have an MUA. any other ideas on ways to get knee moving.
From your description, I believe that as a patient too once I have been in the same position. This is the early stage where you should achieve as much ROM as possible with physiotherapy.
There are several specific exercises and weight lifting with legs that helps to increase ROM. You should use ROM brace too. Ice packs should take care of the pain and inflammation at local sites.
And yes don't dangerously forcibly try to increase ROM. It takes patience and long time too. Have faith in yourself.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Ashish Ranjan, General & Family Physician
