Suggest Treatment For Stage 2 Multiple Myeloma

My girlfriend was recently diognosed with stage 2 multiple myeloma and began a trial study program at Johns Hopkins last week. Understanding there is no cure, and knowing that her health is otherwise good, is it realistic to believe that she can sustain long term life from the disease?
